Building music moodboards

Vol. 21 | Do you see the vision?

Hello again,

Can you believe we’re already halfway through February? This month flew by so fast, I barely had time to catch up on my new music sessions 😭

In the meantime, I’m kicking off a new series where I share glimpses of my music moodboards. Think of it like scrolling through my Pinterest boards, but for songs. I plan to make this a regular series on the side where I’ll be sharing very specific scenarios as I go, but here’s a little starter mixtape to bring you into my world.

As always, thanks for tuning in. I’m more than happy to hear about your moodboards too ✨🎵

Your music storyteller,

Val

In this week's setlist:

📺 Coming-of-Age Runs

If vibes were a genre, feeling like you’re a wallflower-next-door protagonist is probably in my top 3 favourites. There’s something about the melodies of songs that sound like this – it makes me dream big and feel like the world is my oyster.

Feel the thrills of growing into a bigger person with these tracks:

🥵 Mattress Music (⚠️ Warning: NSFW Vibes)

Ever heard of music that just…turns you on? Well, there’s no need to be shy about it – the right tempo and visual imagination can turn your insides and get you there, iykyk 👀

Here’s some steamy vibes to get you into new positions:

🌪️ Slowly, then All At Once

Ever heard a song that feels like you’ve just hopped onto a speeding train? It’s crazy how some tracks can make you feel like you’re in fast motion, even when you’re standing still.

Here are some songs that start with a walk…and then have you sprinting:

🎶 New Music This Week

Ruin Me by Mercer Henderson: The melody is super catchy, until you read into the lyrics and watch our OP destroy herself over a big crush. But don’t we all? 😂

Hurry Up Tomorrow by The Weeknd: Abel brings out his more vulnerable, soulful side with a hint of ’80s flair in this synth-filled track.

Honeybee by The Head and The Heart: This song feels like the perfect background music for a scene in a low-profile indie movie. Imagine our leading man walking through the gloomy streets of New York, still reeling from a fallout with the person he thought was the love of his life.
