Give it up for the Big Belters 📢

Vol. 35 | High-ranged (or high rage?) notes

Hey musers,

It’s been about 8 months since I started writing Music Musings, and honestly…wow. I’d just like to say that it’s been so awesome building this little music corner with you. 💌

Week after week, I’ve flexed my writing and creative muscles to bring you different topics and ideas, and while it’s been great, I think I’m in a good position to ask the greater community for what I can deliver next.

So I thought I’d take a moment to check in:
What would you love to see more of in Music Musings?

I’d love to hear what gets you excited to open these emails every week. Feel free to reply to this email, and I’ll see how I can turn your dream playlists into a reality.

Speaking of music, this week’s rundown is all about big, loud sounds. Think big belters and songs to scream out loud to. And if that’s not your cup of tea, I’ve included quieter sounds, but with big lyrics for your internal screaming moments. Check them out below!

Thanks for always taking the time to tune in. I appreciate you, really I do. 💞

Have a great rest of the week,

Val

In this week's setlist:

⚡️ Ain’t No Octave High Enough

I’ve always been fascinated by singers who have insane vocal range — and even more so when they can command it with such control and emotion. The key to being a true belter is pouring your heart and soul into the music while delivering every soaring note like no other.

Here are some lesser-known vocal powerhouses leading their music on a high note:

🗣️ Crash Out Anthems

Lyrical songs have always been a window into an artist’s emotions and experiences. It’s by no means an easy feat, but once an artist surrenders to the rhythm, the result is a remarkable piece of work — authentic, raw, and deeply resonant with the listener’s own story.

Need new hits for your emotional relapses? Here are some tracks you can scream your lungs out to:

💭 Word-y Hits

Everyone expresses themselves through music differently. So far, we’ve been tuning into tracks that are big, bold, and vocally powerful, where singers go all out to project.

But let’s shift gears for a moment and explore a different kind of power: when the words speak louder than the music. These songs have are poetic lyrics so profound, they not only break the silence, but cut through it.

Supplement your internal screaming sessions with these emotionally charged tracks:

🎼 Lyric of the Week

It′s feeling like a book that nobody can read
‘Cause nobody could ever really see what you see
Stitched up but still bleeding
Know that I can breathe but my hearts not beating

🎶 New Music This Week

What Makes You Sad by Nicotine Dolls: I can’t quite put my finger on the main vocalist’s voice — it’s as if he’s singing two distinct notes in a single word. Whatever the case, I’m digging the yearning vibe.

First Call by Muni Norodom: The buildup from the raindrop-like sounds to the deep bass and well-blended hi-hats was so smooth. And the layered vocals? I’m hooked.
