Pet-Friendly Jams

Vol. 22 | Music recs from our furry friends

Hello hoomans,

Have you ever thought about what songs pets like to listen to?

If you’ve got a furry friend at home, you’ve probably noticed how they react to certain rhythms, melodies, or even instruments. Animals experience the world differently from us, so the vibes hit in their own unique way — and that’s pretty cool to think about.

What songs got your pets vibing like this? 👀

Well, this week, it’s time for pets to weigh in on the songs that get them jumping on all fours (or twos)! I’m sharing a playlist made just for them — curated by our community’s hoomans and their very own furry friends. So, hit play and see what gets them grooving! 🐾🎶

Happy listening (to the both of you!),

Val

In this week's setlist:

🐶 Barking Good Music

Shandy

The brightest smile 🌟

Out for a swim! 🐬

Happy baby 🐕

“Shandy is an absolute goofball whose hobbies include melting people with her cuteness and munching on socks. She loves upbeat and funky songs to wag her tail to. 🥳

Hawker

Chimken time 🍗

Happy boy 🩵

Just graduated! 🎓

“Hawker likes the sound of wheels, but hates the sound of thunder. When it comes to music, he loves the sound of the piano, especially piano ballads. ☺️

Recently, he’s been enjoying sentimental songs like Someone Like You by Adele and No Matter What by Calum Scott. Slipping Through My Fingers by ABBA is his most favourite, he always falls asleep beside me whenever I play that on the piano.” — King, Singapore

Kuro

With Mummy, I miss her so much 🕊️

With my new buddies two years later! Thank you for loving me like Mummy did 💕

“Kuro, the most adorable black toy poodle with tips of chocolate-like stains on his coat, was a gift left behind by the one woman who loved me unconditionally — my mother.

He stuck to her wherever she went, always by her side, fiercely protective whenever a man came near. When Mummy passed in 2023, he showed no signs of grief — there was just an unspoken understanding that I was now his imprinted human. I know that was Mummy’s wish all along, for Kuro to be my companion when she was gone.

Kuro doesn’t have a favorite song (not that I know of!), but if there were a track I’d hope would remind him of Mummy, it would be our cover of Lead Me Lord, sung by Mummy and me, with my cousin, Evan J de Silva, on guitar. It illustrates the last ounce of strength she had within her to deliver her beautiful vocals.

My dear Kuro, thank you for being one of the greatest gifts Mummy left behind. I’ll never forget the memory of the day I came to pick you together with her. Thank you Mummy, for Kuro. May you listen to her whenever she crosses your little mind.” — Anthea, Singapore

😻 Meowing to the Rhythm

Miso

What are you looking at? 😲

“He's a bit of a softie/romantic, so he vibes to Green by BANG YONGGUK. Also, I think he would probably like Hot N Cold by Katy Perry because that's his personality in a nutshell 😂” — Abigail, Singapore

Koko, Khia, Biboy & Ash

Koko & Khia 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛

Biboy 🎉

Ash 🐱

“When this chill music plays or this video plays on your TV, watch your cat go from zoomies to zen in no time. One minute, they’re plotting world domination; the next, they’re sleepy little loaves, eyes half-closed and totally blissed out. And you’ll see them purring away. Just make sure you don’t open a pack of snacks! 😹” — Cheska, Singapore

Yugi, Seri & Nognog

Yugi 🤨

Seri 💋

Nognog 😳

“Yugi, Seri, and Nognog's fur parents love K-Pop and P-Pop, so they've been forced to listen to it HAHA. They have no choice, but we think they love it deep inside.

Some of our go-to songs together: ABCD by Nayeon, Feel Special by TWICE for chill mode, The Feels by TWICE for happy kneading mode, Saan? by Maki for relaxed vibes, and I Like It by Stray Kids for zoomies! 😆” — Arbill, Australia

🎼 Lyric of the Week

And whoever would've thought, the books that you bought were all I loved you for?

🎶 New Music This Week

I Never Can by Ryley Tate Wilson and Reid Wilson: Was pleasantly surprised to stumble upon these brothers again after covering Reid Wilson’s AGT story in one of my previous posts. The intro harmonies are absolutely heavenly – I love how each brother brings a unique vocal style, yet they blend so seamlessly in this track.

Talking To Me Bare (She Said) by FODÉ: Easily a The 1975 dupe — you can hear hints of Somebody Else and a slowed-down version of The Sound. If you're looking to take a break from Matty Healy's vocals, this track is a good alternative.

The Hard Way by PNAU and Khalid: Lose yourself on the dance floor or at a neon-themed roller-skating rink with this infectious EDM track.
